We decided to examine various diesel engine oil and fuel filters by cutting them open. Our findings were quite astonishing.
In the realm of mechanical precision and engine maintenance, the saying “All filters are not the same” rings true with remarkable clarity. This became evident when we recently acquired a batch of supposedly compatible filters intended as replacements for the renowned Perkins filters. However, upon subjecting these filters to closer scrutiny by dissecting them, it became glaringly apparent that they bore little resemblance to their counterparts. The stark differences in construction, materials, and engineering were undeniable.

Look inside a Perkins Oil Filter – All filters are not the same. We picked up some filters that were supposed to be replacements for Perkins. Ouch!

Out for a test drive! This is the first Caterpillar-powered generator made by Aurora Generators. Since this post was made, we switched to Perkins. Perkins is owned by Caterpillar and now wants OEMs to use the Perkins-branded engine instead. That’s great news for us, as it costs less and is the exact same engine, just with a different paint colour.

Caterpillar is to suspend production at its Springvale plant in Belfast for a three-week period.
The company confirmed the temporary measure will take effect from Monday, April 6 through to April 24.

Since air-cooled engines have the potential to over-heat, using them full time is not recommended.
Air-cooled engines that fail generally require a major overhaul and their maintenance and repair tasks tend to be more frequent and more time consuming.

Diesel Fuel Explained – All you ever wanted to know about diesel fuel. Aurora Generators blog explains and answers questions about diesel fuel for generators.

A fuel water separator is a device that ensures clean fuel is delivered to the engine. Properly speaking, it is a small filtering device used to remove water from diesel fuel before it reaches the sensitive parts of the engine
