FAQ

Are lithium and LiFePO4 the same?

The LiFePO4 battery has the edge over lithium-ion, both in terms of cycle life (it lasts 4-5x longer) and safety. This is a key advantage because lithium-ion batteries can overheat and even catch fire, while LiFePO4 does not.

What is a Battery Management System?

A battery management system (BMS) is the brain of a LiFePO4 battery pack. The BMS is a set of electronics that monitors and manages all of the battery’s performance. But, most importantly, it keeps the battery from operating outside its safety margins. A BMS monitors and protects the battery from being overcharged or over-discharged. The BMS also monitors battery health and temperature. It also balances the charge across all the cells to keep them functioning at maximum capacity. If an unsafe condition is detected, the battery management system automatically shuts down the battery to protect itself and the user.

Why do some batteries have Bluetooth?

Many LiFePO4 batteries feature a Bluetooth App that gives real-time access to battery state of charge, voltage, operating current, temperature, and other operating information.

Can LiFePO4 batteries be used to start an engine?

NO.  Do not use LITHIUM or LiFEPO4 batteries to start an engine. Doing so will cause irreversible damage to the battery.

Can LiFePO4 Batteries be used in the cold?

LiFePO4 batteries that have a built-in heater are usable in the cold. Our batteries can be both charged and discharged in sub-zero temperatures.
